Thanks the news about Hin Loon.
We're his classmates (CHS 公教中学 87)
Here are some of the notes from his old friends.
================================
Hi all,
Here's a suggestion, let's put all our recollections of (Woon) Hin Loong into our 20th anniversary bulletin.
In memoriam of a dear friend:
I came to know Hin Loong when I transferred to CHS in Form 4. We didn't become close friends until we were in Form 5. Both of us were kind of misfits. He was the knowledgeable type. I was the dumb type. We were classmates into our university years. After graduation, we drifted apart as Hin Loong was rather reclusive. He had no phone and rarely checked his email. I have only been to his house once. The only way I could reach him is to look for him at the Confucius Independent School (Zhun Kong) where he taught physics. The last time I went to look for him was in 2005. But he was no longer teaching there. I feel ashamed as one of his best friends, I came to know about his untimely departure so late.
What I remember most about him is his short stature, thick glasses, neat hand-writings and his immense knowledge. Like his hand writings, his appearance hardly changed throughout the years. After so many years, his voice and mannerism is still fresh in memory. Anyone who has known him gets the distinct impression that he was some sort of a walking encyclopedia. He could recite the speed of light up to 7 or 9 digits just off-handedly. Occasionally he was a little boostful but unlike most people, he had the knowledge to back it up. Needless to say I have always held the highest respect for him. He had the rare ability to read and understand scientific text books published in China. Which is probably why he fitted right in with teaching physics at Zhun Kong. He had keen imterests in classical Chinese litherature as well as modern science. Whether it's inter or intra-school general knowledge competition, he was the one we sought to represent our school or team. On one rare occasion, he confessed he didn't like his name as it reminded him of a Kopitiam.
But Hin Loong, to your family members, classmates, colleagues and your legion of students , you have made the name noble. No one esle will have the honour to claim that name but you. You are one of a kind. Though your life may have been cut short, you have made it worthwhile. God blessed.

He was my primary school mate as well. The last I met him
was several years
back. He told me he was teaching at "jun kung" private secondary school. Recollected some old memories after reading this sad news. Yes, he was in
double math class during form ================================
He was one of my best friends in high school. We shared a common interest in Astronomy. I remember of giving a seminar about Halley's comet.Quite a number of students attended. During the presentation, someone asked about super sonar. To my embarrassment, I wasn't sure and luckily, Hin Loong was there and he answered that student... Whew!
So sorry and shock to learn about this news.
With deep sympathy,
===================================Hi all,
Yes I remember Hin Loong (his sir name should be Moon). He was a good and quiet guy, wearing (looked like) thick and plastic frame spectacles, not very tall, his hairs and shirts were always very neat.
Will pray for his peaceful departure, it is never too late.

Sad news. He is a fine man. Had a keen interest in science. He is
our Form1-5 classmate. I think he was in double maths in form 6? I
remember he lent me a wonderful book on the trajectory of satellite
|showing how it maintains its position when orbiting the earth.

GL and I remember both of us used to play prankish tricks by spraying water at each other with Hin Loong in the lab during Form 2. But GL and I unfortunately got caught by FBI(teacher) and were punished for washing the lab frig which was full of weird bugs.... (the rest of the class enjoyed PE at that time)
